Ooooooo, pretty! |
First off, let me explain this posts title. Week 48: again... I got to thinking this week that if it really was week 49 than there would only be 3 more weeks until his birthday, but per the calendar there were 4...so I went all the way back to August 1, 2011 and counted out the weeks, twice, and realized that somewhere I miscalculated how old he is in weeks. So we are truly at week 48, not week 49 as I previously thought. Whew! That means my baby won't be one for a whole extra week than I was expecting! Can't complain about that. Although, I have to admit, I am so excited for his birthday! I haven't cried, yet. I wonder when that will hit?
Now onto our top news story of the week.
I was so worried that Rayler wouldn't get to see any fireworks this year because his bedtime is 7:30 and it's not dark enough to do fireworks before then. We actually attended a couple of events and ended up having to leave both times before the fun stuff began. But I finally got my wish on July 4th itself.
We went over to Aunt Cassie's house for a BBQ, swimming and the Skoglund Light Show. (Aunt Cassie works with Dada at the FD) Rayler got to swim in his own little pool, play with Aunt Cassie's doggies, and he even got to hold his own sparkler! With Dada's help of course. He was determined to stay awake for the fireworks that night. He just sat on my lap, owl eyed, and watched the neighbors fireworks until he finally sacked out at 9:45, just before Scotty began the fireworks. He slept through the main show, but woke up in time to see the awesome grand finale. And it was AWESOME. Let's just say that the Skoglund Light Show blew the rest of the neighborhoods displays out of the water. And I was so proud of how Rayler reacted to the fireworks. He held onto me as tight as he could, but watched with all his might and didn't cry once. I told him that if he were older, I would have taken him out for ice cream the next day as a treat for having been
so good!

He rolled his ball behind the bar stools and climbed back there to retrieve it |
|
His first sparkler! |
|
He kept trying to grab it |
|
Tyler finally let him hold it for a minute |
|
He wanted to hold it again |
He was SOOO tired the next day! He took a 3 1/2 hour nap in the morning!
A week or so ago I mentioned that he climbed out of our big garden tub. This week I discovered that he can climb INTO the bathtub as well. I was running his bathwater and I ducked my head into the cabinet to grab a towel and when I looked back he was perched on top of the tub just about to take a header into the water. That was a heart-pounding split instant for me.
Saturday night Tyler and I went to a surprise birthday party and we left Bugs at Grandma Bobbie's house. They got some cute pictures and videos of his time there.

Aunt Poey, Uncle Thadley, and Uncle Jeri is holding Rayler |

Grandpa Gary swinging with Rayler. He had just finished fixing the swing when we got there. I know Rayler will spend many happy hours playing on it in the future. |
Auntie Lyle tried to sing Rayler to sleep. He decided to sing with her.
Rayler's friend Amos turned 1 this week and we got to attend his party. So much fun!

Oooo! That looks like it needs to be smooshed! |
|
He loved making a mess but didn't want to eat any of it. |
|
Peter had a sailboat on his shirt and Rayler kept poking it. |

We stopped at Party City to get a few things for Rayler's birthday. I was getting some streamers and when I turned around this is what I saw. I had to get a picture! |
