Week 41, Daredevil

Lots of random news this week. Let the randomness begin!

Tyler's birthday was this week. We made a special birthday dinner of white chicken enchiladas and shared it with everyone on B Shift and also a strawberry birthday cake.
Yes, he chose the pink cake with pink icing.
Rayler learned to roll a ball this week! Well, it's his version of rolling.

Dada worked a LOT this week, but he was able to sneak in some quality time with Bugs.
Reading "Oh the Thinks You Can Think"

"How much water can fifty-five elephants drink?"  There aren't even fifty-five elephants in the picture!

I bought him the cutest lawn chair at Wal-Mart this week. It was only $4! I think he likes it. But he prefers climbing and standing in it to sitting in it.

He got down on his own, with just a bit of trouble

I thought that if I gave him an extra pair to play with, he might leave the others on. No such luck.
If you don't find yourself chuckling during this next video, check your pulse.

"Dada, Dada, Dada" has completely taken over Bugs vocabulary. "Mama" has left it for the time being. I'm ok with that though, I know it will return of it's own accord in time. I think he kind of likes that Dada of his. Bugs also tells me "Un! Un!" when he is hungry. I am trying to get him to say the rest of the word now. So far he seems content with "Un". He also says the "t" and "s" sounds.

I finally got a little video of something amusing that Bugs does. When I feed him sometimes he chases the shadow of the spoon around on the tray.

Bugs is a little daredevil! He loves to be tossed in the air. He likes to do back flips off of my lap. You've already seen the picture of him climbing in his chair. But this week he climbed off the couch, without falling, and he climbed up into the rocking chair. Be still my pounding heart. I have learned to curb my panicked instincts and to instead let him wander about and get himself out of his pickles if he can. He not as fragile as I lead myself to believe at times.

These past few weeks Bug's schedule has been a little off kilter. His poor little mouth hurts so bad, but his teeth are as stubborn as ever and still refuse to come in. He has ran a fever on and off for two weeks, the highest was last Monday afternoon, 102.5! So un-fun. And to top it off he has another cold now. Poor guy has the worst time sleeping. The last few nights have been a bit nightmarish. I will say though, that we have never had a truly bad night. Even if he wakes up 4-5 times during the night, he can usually fall back asleep fairly quickly. I, on the other hand, cannot. So if you see me and I look like a zombie you will know why.

I have begun to see more and more family traits in Rayler. He has my feet. Little toes that stair step perfectly. My hands. He has my crooked pinky on his right hand (from my Dad) and my short pinky on his left hand (from my Mom), but I think he has Tyler's fingernails. It's a little soon to tell on that. He has my cowlick but Tyler's hairline. He has Tyler's eyebrows, my eyes and my brother's eyelashes. Long, thick and the envy of every woman. He behaves exactly the way I do, well, the way I feel when I am tired. I reach a certain point and I can no longer stand myself. Rayler will start pitching headfirst out of my arms. That's his way of saying "Puuuleezzzzz put me in bed! I can't hold my eyes open any longer!" Have I mentioned that I am head over heels in love with this precious little man? Rest assured, I am quite.

We are working on a bit of obedience this week. He most certainly understands "No", and he is generally obedient when I say it. Although he "forgets" what the no no is within the half hour. Again I find myself wondering when Mother's develop the eyes in the back of their heads? I could use mine. Like yesterday. We are also working on "Come to Mama". If I am patient and calm and firmly insistent he will usually listen and come to me. Although some times he takes his time about doing it.

One day I was cleaning in the front room and I realized that the house was disturbingly quite. I looked around and saw that Bugs's bedroom door was closed and his little toes were peeking out underneath it.

Today was my first Mother's Day with Bugs! I spent the day at home alone with Rayler because Tyler is on duty and Rayler is not feeling well. We were just going to stay home tonight, but Tyler asked us to come down to visit him for just a while. This is why.
Ooo! A big box to bang on!

He had no interest in trying to help to unwrap my present, he just wanted to see if I would let him fall off the table.

I LOVE! my new pots and pans! Exactly what I've been wanting!

Rayler loves them too. He thinks they're a bunch of new toys for him.

He "drove" my stockpot all over the front room.
I loved my day. I loved every second that I spent with my little man. True, we ate hotdogs and bananas, wore our pajamas all day and banged on pots (not my new ones), but it was better than any spa day. I'm HIS mommy. And I wouldn't change a thing.

And...I've run out of steam. FYI-it has taken me three hours to make it this far in this blog post because my laptop keeps crashing on me. Have had to remind myself to breath and had to verbally command myself not to toss it out the window. And here we are. Finally made it this far. So now hopefully it will behave and upload the rest of this weeks pictures without further trouble.

They were sitting side by side so cutely that I had to run and get the camera. Of course, by the time I came back Rayler had had quite enough of being still.

He found this little plastic thing wedged in between the boards.  Tyler said  "Oh he can't  get that out." And just then Rayler popped it out and promptly stuck it in his mouth. *sigh*

Eating his sock. Yum.
